The problem is with the assembly instructions. Do not put the bolts in the brackets that are closest to the ends of the frame, they will hold the uprights as well as the bracket.Assemble everything else apart from the base and the table. All of the sheet metal parts fit together well are nicely painted and have no sharp edges. I would have liked to see the top plate a bit thicker, but it does seem to do the job. Overall this stand does just what it is supposed to, hold the planer. You are done, mount the planer on the top and go to work.Strongly recommended for the DeWalt planers. Next add the two other wheels and brackets. Don't go crazy when you tighten the two bolts or you will distort the metal tube frame.
Place the completed frame assembly on the base, install the bolts, jiggle the whole thing to get it square and then tighten all of the bolts. You will need both a 13 mm wrench and socket with an extension. The assembled stand is robust and provides a vibration free platform. Do NOT tighten the bolts. Treat them more or less as a guide instead of a detailed set of steps.The best way to put this thing together is to look at the picture of the finished product and use a bit of common sense. Start by bolting the locking wheel assembly to the base; make sure that the cutout side is up. Once the frame and base are secure, add the table on the top. If it were not for the assembly instructions, I would give this product five starts.
I ordered this this table for my husband; what a back-saving purchase. He no longer has to risk another trip to the O.R. (which would be for his third back surgery) because he has to lift his planer to use it. - A great alternate use of use of health care dollars.
The instructions on how to put it together are not good, I write procedures and these are bad. I personally would like to see the table taller but that's my call. Just find a good picture and assemble. The two wheels are on the outside which I keep running into everything, bad driver. Wish they were on the inside of the base and I may move them there, redesign. I do like the steering wheel, a plus. Over all it does a good job.
No, I am not a paid basher or otherwise have any interest in competitors. Instructed to attach wheels only later to DEDUCE (because there are NO INSTRUCTIONS) you have to remove it to assemble the leg support.All this makes me wonder if the same geniuses designed the 735 planer I bought.with blades rotating at 10,000 RPM.
Maybe one of the boys could take a look at their own docs while having their back rubbed in the corporate G6 en-route to DeWalt Racing.1. DeWalt is apparently challenged by the daunting task of producing accurate and complete assembly instructions.
Only 1 base screw attachment for each leg: that's a personal injury, and lawsuit waiting to happen.3. Hey guys, how about something as simple as organizing fastening hardware instead of throwing everything together in one bag.
Oh and, the nuts that were supposed to be the same size, WERE NOT.2. OH BOY.

The first time i moved the planer from one bench to another I knew it needed to be on a base.Bought the Dewalt with free shipping, an excellent product, instructions are clear, easy to assemble and evrything fits (no chinese surprise)
